Bettye earned her speech and language pathology degree from Western Washington University, earning her bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders in 2017 and then her masters degree in 2022. Bettye has previously practiced in the early support sector at Kindering and serving students at Highline Public schools as a speech language pathologist. Bettye specializes in working with the pediatric population, the autistic community, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), and parent coaching. This diverse experience has given her valuable skills and insight into how different sectors approach therapy and provided a strong foundation on reflective based caregiver coaching.
Bettye is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds a state license to practice in Washington state. She is committed to continuing education and most recently attended the ASHA conference in Seattle to stay up to date on the most recent advancements in the field. Bettye holds a gestalt language processing certificate, extensive training in neuroaffirming therapy, and is also trained in implementing culturally aware and sensitive practices with families from various backgrounds.
Bettye has a clinical focus in the following areas: speech sound production, receptive and expressive language delays, social communication, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), behavior therapy, gestalt language processing, parent coaching, play based therapy, early language delays (e.g., late talkers), and family processing in receiving an autism diagnosis. Bettye has an individualized, compassionate, and flexible approach to therapy where her philosophy is to provide meaningful, holistic, and engaging therapy to help clients and their families feel empowered and motivated to accomplish their goals.
